This is the highly sought-after Lagavulin Islay Jazz Festival 2017 Special Edition, a companion festival release to the Feis Ile bottle. While the Feis Ile release celebrates the island's grand spring festival, this bottling was created exclusively for the intimate Islay Jazz Festival held in September. It was similarly chosen and authorized by warehouse legend Iain MacArthur.

  • Distillery: Lagavulin Distillery, Islay
  • Bottled: 2017
  • Age: Non-Age Statement (NAS), blended from older, exceptionally mature distillery stocks
  • Cask Profile: A unique combination of classic Refill American Oak Hogsheads and rich Refill European Oak Sherry Casks
  • Rarity: Strictly limited to 6,000 bottles worldwide
  • Specifications: Bottled at a fiery, natural cask strength of 57.6% ABV, uncolored and non-chill filtered

Brief Tasting Notes
By utilizing refill American and European oak rather than active first-fill wine casks, this Jazz edition pushes the pure, raw distillery character to the absolute forefront, putting a heavier emphasis on intense smoke and coastal salinity.

  • Nose: Sharp, clean, and highly complex. It opens with vibrant notes of medicinal peat, cold wood ash, and a distinct maritime sea-breeze salinity. Behind the initial coastal punch lies subtle hints of green apple skin, toasted almonds, and sweet lemon curd from the refill casks
  • Palate: Powerfully intense and oily. The 57.6% ABV carries an explosion of tar smoke, white pepper, and heavy peat bogs. The refill European oak gently grounds the mid-palate with soft baking spices, dried orange peel, and dark chocolate undertones
  • Finish: Exceedingly long, warm, and satisfyingly dry. It slowly fades with lingering echoes of medicinal campfire smoke, salted caramel, and clean oak wood tannins
