This is the highly prestigious Glenfarclas 40 Year Old Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky (Discontinued Older Bottling). It features a grey-purple cardboard cylinder tube instead of the modern red wooden "Warehouse Door" gift box. Crucially for collectors, these early batches were bottled at a higher strength than today's standard releases.

Brief Tasting Notes
Four decades of direct-fired distillation and slow maturation in damp stone warehouses give this malt unparalleled concentration, showing a much heavier, leathery style compared to the brighter 30-year-old.

• Nose: This heavy foundation builds up to dense layers of chocolate orange marmalade, rich honey, and a whisper of fresh peat
• Palate: Massive and highly viscous. It coats the throat with thick espresso coffee coffee, chocolate-covered raisins, sweet figs, dark walnut oil, and charred oak spices
• Finish: Exceedingly long, warm, and highly elegant. It leaves a monumental impression of gingerbread cookies, dark mochaccino, old leather, and a very clean, gentle wave of oak tannins
